Users
The demographic for users is incredibly broad but they are looking to buy gifts for either individuals or groups of people.
YOU BETCHA! BOX
"Minnesota nice" is a real thing!
and You Betcha! Box is certainly living up to that reputation! With their pre-curated gift boxes of items made by Minnesotan Makers, you can send a little piece of the North Star State to anyone, anywhere. And now they're taking their kindness to the business world with their new B2B model.
What did we learn?
They’re not alone.
A competitive analysis revealed that they’re more than a few Minnesota based gift box companies and far more general gift box companies.
I needed to make a user journey map to find ways that I could make You Betcha! Box standout.
“No phone No phone,
I just want to be alone today” - CAKE and also Users.
Millennials are the largest generational demographic and research has shown that they don’t like phone calls.
In the current state, all bulk or corporate custom orders need to be handled over a phone call.
That’s potentially a lot of money left on the table. So we needed to ideate on how to solve this problem on the web!
Feature Sketches
Things are coming into view.
What did we do?
and why?
Build a Box!
I found that competitors had build a box functions but they were boring and not easy to use. To make YouBetcha! Box standout I designed an experience that would be easy to understand and visually appealing as well.
Adding Items with Filters
This is a new feature for the website that would assist in the "build a box” feature. It would provide transparency with financials and give users the ability to select one item at a time.
Customize It!
Here is the one stop shop where users can add their own image to the box and preview it. They can also add a “to and from” as well as a personal note. The 360 rotation eats up most of the developer time which could be simplified by offering three different still views of the box.
MINNESOTA MIRACLE MAKERS
Makers are the key ingredient to You Betcha Boxes success. Featuring them directly on the home page shows how much they are valued. Clickable links to relevant information helps users learn about and buy from the featured makers.

NOTES AND THOUGHTS
I would ask a few more strategic questions next time.
Since their business requires delivery, I would have loved to know who they use for their delivery service. That way we could optimize and streamline our responses to increase the efficiency of the whole project flow.
To update this I plan to do a content audit to further explore information found in the competitive analysis.
